El otro día celebraba mis primeros 10 años en los Países Bajos y durante todo ese tiempo ha habido de todo, de unas cosas más que de otras pero de lo que siempre hubo fue de Cine.

Mi forma de contar el paso del tiempo se basa en la cantidad de películas que veo. Cuando entro en una nueva empresa lo primero que hago es crearme un correo que me enviaré a mi mismo cuando acabe el contrato y en el mismo voy apuntando todas las películas que veo. Por eso sé que en mi primer año en los Países Bajos vi 81 películas mientras trabajaba para Lucent Technologies y durante los nueve años restantes vi 929 y al sumar ambas cantidades tenemos que en mi primera década en los Países Bajos he ido al cine en 1010 ocasiones.

Si alguien se molesta en contarlos descubrirá que hay menos de 1010 ya que he repetido muchísimas películas y en mi lista solo aparecen la primera vez que las voy a ver.

Todo este cine lo vi en las ciudades holandesas de Hilversum, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Den Haag y Nijmegen, en las ciudades españolas de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Telde, Vecindario, Valencia, Barcelona, Santiago de Compostela y Sevilla, en las ciudades alemanas de Frankfurt y Nuremberg, en las ciudades de Kuala Lumpur y Melaka en Malasia, Dublín (Irlanda), Istanbul (Turquía) y en Praga (República Checa) y en muchísimas ocasiones estuve acompañado por amigos y conocidos.

El cine siempre ha formado parte de mi vida de una u otra manera, ya sea en las frases absurdas que uso en la firma de mis correos o en frases hechas que uso, todo viene del cine igual que la música nueva que descubro e incluso lugares que he visitado por llamarme la atención después de verlos en alguna película. En los cines de cualquier ciudad me siento en casa y siempre que tengo tiempo y hay alguno disponible les hago una visita.

El cine es tan importante que cuando después de un año dejé de trabajar en Lucent, el correo de despedida lo escribí usando los títulos de las películas que vi durante ese año, los cuales logré encajar en una preciosa historia que por supuesto leyeron los lectores de mi lista de distribución, aquellos que sí que pueden decir que llevan diez años leyendo mis desquiciados textos. Cuando me despidan o me vaya de la empresa en la que trabajo en la actualidad no creo que lo vuelva a hacer porque sería un texto con al menos ochocientos sesenta y dos títulos de películas y como os podéis imaginar, solo para escribirlo necesitaría un par de días.

En las próximas semanas tendremos alguna otra anotación que se centrará en algún otro aspecto de estos primeros diez años vividos en Holanda.
